Very decorative, 17th century map of Greece and the Aegean, the Carpathian Sea, Crete and the islands west of Peloponesia, with a decorative cartouche featuring two Greek mythical figures, based on that of Professor Johannes Laurenberg (1590-1658).

Demetrius I (337–283 BC), called Poliorcetes ("The Besieger"), son of Antigonus I Monophthalmus and Stratonice, was a Macedonian Greek nobleman, military leader, and finally king of Macedon (294–288 BC).
