Very decorative, 17th century map of Greece and the Aegean, the Carpathian Sea, Crete and the islands west of Peloponesia, with a decorative cartouche featuring two Greek mythical figures, based on that of Professor Johannes Laurenberg (1590-1658).
 


Historical and retrospective map of South East Europe and Asia Minor featuring Greece, Crete, Albania, Macedonia, Turkey, Cyprus, Syria and Northern Egypt. Demetrius I (337–283 BC), called Poliorcetes ("The Besieger"), son of Antigonus I Monophthalmus and Stratonice, was a Macedonian Greek nobleman, military leader, and finally king of Macedon (294–288 BC).

Antique Maps of France

 

 Map of Ptolemaic France first published in Munster's edition of Ptolemy's 'Geographia' in 1540. Presented on a trapezoidal projection with parallels and meridians which are forerunners of lines of longitude and latitude.  Scarce.

Antique Maps of Derbyshire

 

We have a good selection of county maps of Derbyshire from the late 17th century to the mid-19th century.  Most are hand coloured and are engraved on either copperplate or steelplate. Featured towns and cities include Derby, Chesterfield, Wirksworth, Bakewell and Belper.

This late 18th century map has a decorative scrolled title cartouche and three different mileage scales. It is a hand coloured, copperplate engraving.

This large and impressive map was produced by brothers Christopher and James Greenwood during the reign of William IV.  It is very detailed and has a title with 10 different fonts.  Bottom right is a vignette of Chatsworth House and the map is hand coloured.

Fowey and Mounts Bay - Chart by Capt. Greenville Collins
 From the Britsh Coasting Pilot and published in 1693, these were the first British charts and transformed both the country and the Navy.
